“Stop reading this now, pick up the phone, and book Zara!!! Seriously tho, having met and spoken to a few Doulas before Zara, I immediately knew that ‘she was the one’. No mistaking it. Her strength, integrity, truth, energy, and the utter, immense, abundance of LOVE that she just emanates. It made me feel inspired, empowered, safe, and of course, loved. Zara is an incredibly experienced professional, she really does know her stuff. And she’s just the most delicious person to be around and spend time with, and to be looked after by. She sees you, the real you, behind any anxiety, fear, or misplaced sense of politeness. I remember being all “would you like a cup of tea? Can I get you a biscuit?” while in a total daze post the birth of my twins. She’s having none of it, she’s there for you, for your babies, for your sanity, for your partner … she needs nothing, she just gives, wholeheartedly and seemingly tirelessly.
Zara was absolutely instrumental in enabling me to, finally, breastfeed my twins, which I did until 14 months, after the most horrible first two months. I am forever grateful to her for this, for helping me to give them a great start.
If a Doula could be a guardian angel, this is her. Stop your search. Stop ‘thinking’ about whether you need one or not. You do. This is her. You and your baby/ies deserve it. XXX”

“Zara is by far the best money I have ever spent. She helped me achieve the birth of my dreams, I could never have done it without her. Her gentle non judgemental approach, sensitively offering options and helping me with the things I didn’t know I didn’t know and listening so acutely, all helped us have a fantastic HBAC (vbac at home). Whilst she was amazing during the birth with aromatherapy oils, massage and a rebozo etc, she was even more incredible before in the lead up to help me and my husband get into the right state of mind. Afterwards she helped us settle gently into parenthood and was such a loving presence in the most wonderful hours after the birth. She even cooked up my placenta! Zara did a closing the bones massage which was bliss, a very helpful way to let go of the tension and ease into the transition of having 2 little ones. I am so grateful for meeting Zara, she made my 2nd birth an absolute joy and one of my proudest and happiest moments, I couldn’t recommend her more highly”.

“This summer (2018) we welcomed our baby boy into the world. Zara, was absolutely terrific through-out.
Always smiling, proactive and down-to-earth, Zara was hugely helpful throughout all stages of planning, the birth and beyond.
During the labour she was great at calming me, giving me reassurance, reminding me of the breathing and hypno-birthing I’d been working on, and was (politely & professionally) challenging the doctors to explain the medical terms in simple, plain speaking English!
We also arranged for Zara to come round once a week for the first six weeks after the birth of our son. Her new born advice was spot on, and she provided me with resources and knowledge to help me understand and cope with the new daily challenges I was facing. She gave me confidence in looking after and providing for our new baby and particularly helped me with breastfeeding techniques.
We highly recommend her cooking too … the pork and beef meatballs are delicious and perfect for sleep deprived, hungry new parents!
An absolute star – highly and unreservedly recommend her to others”
Thank you Zara!

“Zara came highly recommended by a close friend and I knew within minutes of that first phone call that she was absolutely fantastic and a person I could work with. As someone very prone to anxiety, I was keen to get some really good support for my birth. I had heard too many stories of truly difficult and traumatic births to know that I didnt want to leave it to chance or luck. I strongly believe that continuity of care from someone you trust and like really helps you feel calm and confident and that that positive mindset can really make a difference in birth. Getting Zara to support me through those months was the best decision I could have made. She is an absolute mine of knowledge, experience and information, sending useful links and suggesting great books almost as soon as I’d sent a question over to her (and my goodness I had plenty of those). More than all the practical help and advice though, her immense warmth and kindness is what really touched me. She is both a hilarious force of nature and also immensely calm – the epitome of reassurance, common sense and positivity when your hormones are playing havoc and you’re full of worries. When I wobbled and wavered, her belief in me gave me the boost I needed. My birth experience was incredible and I have no doubt that Zara’s empowering support in the run up and on the day was a hugely significant reason why. My husband adored her too. He was not without a role – the three of us worked together and I knew that with her by my side and on my side, that no matter what happened, I’d be ok. I feel extremely lucky to have had her share one of the most amazing and profound moments of my life with me and will be forever grateful to her. Thank you thank you Zara”

|“Having Zara along with us for the first couple of weeks after Mr Ru was born was an absolute privilege! I could not think of anyone else who I would of rather of had by my side, during those early days. As EVERYONE has said before me, Zara has the most WONDERFUL energy to her. She is warm, comforting, funny and so knowledgeable that you know that she is the epitome of everything you hope for in a post natal doula. I feel that our son, little Ru, could not of had a more easier and harmonious first few weeks and Zara played a HUGE part in ensuring that. Having little Ru enter our life as well as meeting Zara has been a huge privilege and for that I know I will always be grateful!”

“When we booked Zara, we had no idea what we were getting into. It turned out we weren’t just booking an extra pair of experienced hands for our birth, but someone who slotted into our family, and became part of our team, for as long as we needed her. Zara’s positive and abundant energy is infectious, and I’m convinced she can make any woman believe anything is possible- no birthing scenario phases her. She was my advocate until the very end, and her support allowed me to achieve a truly beautiful first stage. What was especially important to me was her ability to turn my husband, an utter non believer in the role of doulas, into a full blown fan. After our birth he sent her a message saying that we couldn’t have done it without her, and he’s right. We couldn’t.”

In short…Zara is Wonderwoman. Hiring her to become part of our new family after the birth of my daughter was one of the best decisions I made pre-birth.
I unfortunately have bipolar disorder and even though I take medication daily, I am far more susceptible to postnatal anxiety and depression. So, I did a lot of stuff to get myself in as good of shape as possible post-birth. I immediately warmed to Zara and could envision the help she would bring to our home. After the first week of her help…she’s far surpassed my expectations.
She has been amazing for both me and my husband (who was a bit sceptical beforehand). She has a knack for just slotting into the family dynamic (far from feeling like a stranger). Sensing who needs what – whether it’s a warm hand on your shoulder, a reassuring breastfeeding chat, a homemade meal or just putting your home back into order. Last Friday, as part of celebrating my one-week postpartum, Zara gave me an incredible massage- that was certainly on a par with one you’d receive from a professional massage therapist (perfection for my recovering body).
I honestly can’t speak highly enough about Zara and what a difference she’s made so far to my postpartum journey. It’s the best money you can spend for yourself and your new family.

We couldn’t have done it without her & wouldn’t do it again without her!
She brought such a calming aura to the labour room. When she arrived, the sight of her reduced me to tears of relief as I knew she had both our backs & was able to support us both.
She was able to provide much needed relief for my husband & was a trooper – she was in the labour room with us for nearly 21 hours & never flagged!
She supported us both prenatally with our indepth discussions. Always on hand to provide advice, books, articles to help us with our choices in a non judgemental way. Her knowledge & experience shone through.
She also provided me with amazing prenatal massages that combined with the hypnobirthing scripts left me in a zen state afterwards.
We can’t thank her enough & loved having her on our journey to parenthood & assisting us in welcoming our beloved daughter into the world.’

“When we met up with Zara to discuss the possibility of her becoming our doula we knew immediately she was the one! Not only does she have a huge range of skills and experience that would be beneficial to any pregnant family, antenatally, during labour and birth and postnatally, but she is also a wonderful reader of people and situations ensuring that she always knows the right things to do and say in any situation. This means her approach is totally client-centred, personalised and flexible. On a personal level Zara really helped me work through fears related to my first birth and was key in ensuring that my second birth was a much more positive experience both in my approach to it and during labour”
Eleanor, Jon, Joshua and Thomas
“Zara was an incredible support throughout pregnancy and birth. Having my prenatal meetings calmed me and helped me clarify my birth plan and prepare me for labour. Zara was amazing throughout my birth. She offered exactly the support I needed. She was encouraging, positive and physically and mentally there for me through every contractions. She made me feel confident that I could do it and reassured me when I doubted myself. I ended up having an incredible birthing experience and I’m sure having Zara there both before and during labour contributed significantly. After the birth I also sought Zara’s advice on breastfeeding, again she was tremendously helpful and non judgemental. She latched baby on immediately after birth (as I had requested) and also helped some weeks later with more wonderful support and advice. I really couldn’t recommend her enough. Her compassion, her wisdom and her awesome sense of humour make her one of a kind. Thank you Zara”

“Zara came to our rescue in the first six weeks of our twin daughters lives. She was a ray of sunshine, incredibly kind and literally kept us going in those tough early weeks. Zara somehow managed to look after us all at once: cooking delicious meals and treats, supporting me with breast feeding, listening, sharing all her baby knowledge, helping us keep the house going and so much more- she even managed much of this with both babies in a sling! Wonderdoula! Oh- and her breast feeding cookies are AMAZING!
Jules and Denis – Clapham
“Zara was an amazing source of support for me and my husband during my pregnancy, birth and in the first weeks of being new parents. Most importantly she helped me find the confidence I needed to have the birth that I wanted. She helped me overcome challenges that I faced in the last few weeks of pregnancy by being a great source of emotional and physical support but also a wealth of knowledge. She gives great massages, and cooks the best meatballs I have ever tasted!”
Abi & Simon – Herne Hill
“Zara was an absolute blessing in every sense of the word. As first time parents without family near (we are from the States), we were very nervous about the process of giving birth and using the NHS (as we’re unfamiliar with it). Although we had read books and attended several classes, it wasn’t until we met Zara that we felt that we were fully prepared. From the antenatal sessions, during the birth and even until this day, without having Zara as our doula we know that becoming parents would have been a very different experience. Her enthusiasm, support (physical, vocal and emotional) and true understanding of what the parents are going through was beyond any of our expectations. During the actual birthing process she gave us the guidance that we needed in dealing with the hospital staff as per our needs. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Zara to anyone, and we will absolutely be using her as our doula again in the future”
Patrick & Lisa DeFors, Tooting
“We knew from the first time we met Zara, she was absolutely the right person to support us in our dream of a home birth. Being my first pregnancy it was all a new experience, and although we were both well read and informed on the subject it was having that real-life support from someone who I knew had our desires and best interests at heart that gave us the confidence to pursue what we knew was the right birth plan for us.
Zara’s personable, open manner made her feel like a trusted family member who I could reach out to with any sort of questions or concerns I had. She manages to couple this with an incredible reliability in informed response, and providing links to articles and research where relevant (and at all hours of the night!) From initial thoughts around place of birth and birth preparation through to considerations on breech birth, Vitamin K and placenta use post-birth, Zara was able to provide advice and expert contacts where required.
The support and understanding I got from her in the late stages of my pregnancy was incredibly special, and helped me through the physical and emotional rollercoaster of three weeks of latent labour through to the birth at 42 weeks gestation. Her words of wisdom kept me steady at times when I felt I couldn’t go on.
Her readiness to drop everything and be there with us in the middle of the night when things finally kicked off, felt to me like we’d been wrapped in a blanket of love and protection. She was able to read my body language, know what kind of support and comfort I needed when I needed it without hardly saying a word. Her constant presence and support (along with my incredibly amazing husband’s) throughout my labour at home and when we transferred to hospital and post birth, is something I’ll never forget.
Thank you Zara for your love and support in our journey of bringing our precious baby into this world, in a way that we wanted. I cherish our friendship and bond from this life changing event and look forward to having you join us for the next one. Fingers crossed that one will finish at home!”

“As a first time mother, post-caesarean section, I could not have been more fortunate in my choice of doula than Zara. She is incredibly nurturing and made me feel really looked after. I have also come to realise more and more over the three months since my baby was born, how important it is to have someone who doesn’t just look after your baby, but looks after you (and your family), enabling you to look after your baby. Of course Zara did look after my baby while she was also looking after me, but I always felt supported in my role of mother, never as if someone else was doing the job for me. She gave me confidence in listening to my instincts in how I wanted to care for my baby, and that has stayed with me.
Having someone there to give me practical assistance and reassurance as regards breastfeeding was also a priority for me, and Zara did this brilliantly. It was super important to me that I should eat well (I like food!) and that it should be healthy and Zara cooked delicious and healthy meals, which I am sure aided my recovery.
I was of course full of questions and Zara is a mine of useful information, often sending me overnight links to useful articles regarding points we had spoken about in the day. Zara actively looks for ways in which she can be helpful to you, and does not just wait to be asked – essential in helping an exhausted first time mother who doesn’t really have a clue what she is doing!
In summary, Zara’s help was crucial in giving my baby a secure introduction to the world and I give her credit for her invaluable help and support in this and for the part she played in my baby’s relaxed and happy nature”

“Just wanted to share my experience of having amazing Zara as my doula. I was pretty scared of birth when I found out I was pregnant. I had read about the effect that a doula can have on the whole experience and asked around for recommendations. An old friend of mine recommended Zara, and we went from there. Although Zara insisted I should meet other doulas before booking her to ensure that she was the girl for us, I booked Zara right away as I felt like I was in a pair of completely safe hands from our first chat. Zara introduced me to a number of techniques to ensure that I was completely relaxed throughout my pregnancy, and was so wonderfully reassuring in the run up to the birth. Always ready with interesting articles and helpful little props together, Zara helped ensure that I was as well prepared as I could be for everything to come. Furthermore, although Zara is a passionate trainee breastfeeding counsellor, she completely supported my decision to mixed feed from day 2 with no judgement whatsoever. Zara was a total dream throughout the actual birth. We felt that we weren’t getting the support that we needed in certain areas and Zara took charge. Zara was literally by my side for the entire process, helping me to relax and be as comfortable as I possibly could be. Zara ensured that I has absolutely everything I needed and when the baby came she ensured we had a phone full of photographs to remember the moment by. Without a shadow of doubt I will be asking Zara to come back if we’re lucky enough to have number 2. We are so so happy to have had Zara with us throughout and hopefully in our lives for a long time!

“Zara was part of our magical journey and the arrival of our first baby. From the first phone call through numerous visits and cups of tea we knew Zara was a truly amazing and special person. We were planning a home birth and wanted someone to help and guide us through what was, to us at the beginning,

“Being a first time mum and with a husband who, like many others, was a little nervous of how he would find being in the delivery suite, I was keen to find someone to support me on the lead up and during the process of giving birth to my baby. I found exactly that with Zara. Zara is a bubbly and vivacious character who certainly knows her stuff when it comes to all things baby! She was a wonderful support in preparing us for the big day, and was invaluable during my rather lengthy birth – who knew that her holding my hips whilst my husband supported with gas and air during contractions, would provide such relief! She knew exactly what I needed – even down to encouraging me to have a little snack, and encouraging me to keep drinking water to keep fatigue at bay. She was also a real encouragement in terms of keeping me going and so I didn’t feel like I needed to give up and was a helpful confidant when decisions had to be made. Also, it was lovely having the dedicated support of a female doula, whilst going through the process whilst maintaining great sensitivity to allow my husband to play an equally pivotal role. Zara was also fabulous at putting me in touch with all the right contacts at the hospital, from the senior midwife, to the tongue tie specialist – she knew it all. I wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending Zara’s services as a birth doula to anyone else. Thank you Zara for helping bring our little boy into the world!

“Zara was the most amazing post natal doula! I had no idea what to expect with my first baby, and after a 3 day labour an…d complicate
She made the transition
I can’t recommend her enough, she is very special…
When my partner and I decided we would look for the support of a doula, I knew I would have to find somebody I felt instantly at ease with and Zara made me feel co…mfortable the minute I opened my front door to her that first time. She has a fantastic sense of humour, which was essential for me during my pregnancy and even more so in the first 28 hours of labour! Zara knows exactly what is needed and when. She empowered me throughout my pregnancy; for the first time in my life I feel truly strong and proud of myself. She is like a best friend, a mum and a sister all rolled into one. She protected me and my partner when we were at our most exhausted and vulnerable. Since the birth of our daughter, Zara has helped me overcome the difficulties I have been having with breast feeding; just when you think it’s all lost, Zara is there with encouraging words and useful suggestions. I feel very blessed to have been able to share my daughter’s birth with someone I know will be a friend of ours for life now. I can’t recommend her highly enough”
Thank you Mumma Z xx
“If you are considering engaging Zara’s services as a Doula, my advice is to absolutely do it. Zara was my Doula when I gave birth to my baby boy and her help and support had a huge impact.
My main objective was to have someone with me at the birth who was experienced as a birth partner and who I could trust, while my husband looked after our daughter. However Zara’s support turned out to be so much more than that. We spent a lot of time in the preceding weeks talking about my first birth (which had been traumatic for me), and how I would like this birth to go. Zara quickly realised that it was really important for me to work on my fears approaching the birth, and helped me to see this too, and to do so – with great success. The birth experience that followed for me was entirely different, and I credit a lot of that to my mind set which was only achieved with Zara’s support and by knowing that she would be the one there with me when I needed someone to be my voice, have my back, and look after me.
I believe that every woman should have a Zara to help them prepare for and to be at their birth! It made a massive difference for me and I wholly recommend her”

” Speaking as only one of your many families all I can say here is you are amazing. Your strength, attitude, sensitivity, patience and generosity made for the perfect doula for the three of us. You gave me the confidence I knew I was missing, and you filled me with strength when I all I could see was doubt. On the most challenging days, I now think: ‘what would Zara do now?’ Thank you x

“Zara’s energy, enthusiasm and postnatal support made all the difference to everyone in the family following the arrival of Oliver, our third child. He is the first baby I have been able to exclusively breastfeed, and I would not have achieved this without Zara being there to not only encourage and support me, but to do the school run, help my eldest with his homework, play endlessly with my middle child, put food on the table, and fend off the household from chaos, with tidying, laundry, ironing etc. She enabled us all to enjoy our third baby, and each other. We cannot thank her enough”

I’m not sure I really know where to start. Having a baby – your first in particular – is life changing, and Zara played such a huge part in that for me. I genuinely mean it when I say I couldn’t have done it without her. From the minute I met Zara I knew she was a perfect fit. I was looking for someone who connected with me – I’m quite a spiritual person, but at the same time am no nonsense and very direct! Zara got me, and my husband (who is very different to me!) straight away. She made herself completely available and nothing was too much trouble. She guided and advised us with her endless knowledge, and helped make sure our birth experience was everything we wanted it to be, which is saying a lot given that we had a few hiccups last minute (birthing suite and pools unavailable due to maintenance and a 44 hour labour!!) Zara however worked closely with my husband to make sure I stayed relaxed, massaging me, keeping me cool, making me drink lots of water, staying up with me through the night and using hypnobirthing language to help me stay in control. Due to her support I managed the whole thing with no pain relief which was my biggest wish above anything else. I cannot recommend Zara enough. Not only is she an amazing doula but has become a true friend. I will definitely be booking her for my future births!
Abi and Ben, Balham
“We decided we’d like a drug-free home birth, and we wanted a doula to help us achieve this. As soon as we met Zara, her approach really clicked with us. She gave us lots of information and helped us understand the numerous options. We really enjoyed learning about pregnancy and birth during this time. More importantly, Zara really listened to us, and we feel that she adapted to support us in ways that were most helpful for us. The labour was quick for a first-time birth, with intense contractions right from the start, which was not really what we had expected. Zara helped us to cope with the labour as it unfolded, and we both felt great trust in her. At one point, I demanded that Zara “tell me a story” to distract me during a contraction and she improvised wonderfully! She also had time to take some photos with our camera, and it is lovely to have a visual record of the experience. In the end, we did have a successful home birth, using gas & air for pain relief. It was an awesome experience, and Zara really contributed to that”.
Jenny and Pete – Woking
“Zara came to help look after me and Henry (who was just one at the time) while I was having treatment for breast cancer. I wanted to still be his mum and be active as much as possible but knew I would need some extra help. It was an extremely emotional and difficult time. But Zara was amazing. She made me feel comfortable, loved, supported and accepted from the moment we met. She looked after Henry when I needed to rest, ran errands when I wasn’t able and cooked us wonderful and nutritious meals. But more than that, she became our friend. I truly cannot recommend her services highly enough. We miss her”.
Vicki and Mash, Surbiton
“Zara was with my family for four weeks as a postnatal doula. She was everything I was looking for as a first time Mum: with experience with hundreds of families Zara was like having a very experienced Mother who wasn’t my Mother supporting us during those early days after our daughter’s birth. As a new mum Zara made me feel supported and reassured and she was a great resource. Zara took care of our family and our house so that I could bond with my daughter. She was proactive and took on anything needed to be done or addressed. Her skills and experience aside, Zara has a warm, nurturing and uplifting energy and I would strongly recommend her as a postnatal doula”
Amber and David – Marylebone
“After having my second baby, Poppy, I wanted to have some maternal care and someone who would help our home to stay peaceful and grounded. When Zara arrived to help us she did just that, amazing!!!!! We all adored her and I felt so loved and nurtured. She was brilliant with my little boy, Justy and we had a lot of laughs at a time that can be quite hard and exhausting at times. Could not recommend her enough. It was like having my mother around! Zara was caring, supportive, amazing with Poppy and Justin, super confident, hands on, cooked delicious food and was a joy to have around. She became part of the family”

“Overall, Jess’s birth was an amazing experience, and was better than I could ever have imagined. In my case, it really was true that the more relaxed that I became the less pain I was in. Certainly having Zara, a fantastic doula supporting us made it possible for me to relax completely during labour which I don’t think I would have achieved otherwise”.
Geri, and Ben, Guildford – September 2013
“Given our positive outcome, it is difficult to be wholly objective in assessing the specific value which hypnobirthing brought us (the desperate words of a cynic proven wrong perhaps!). It is of course entirely possible that the same happy ending would have been achieved without deploying hypnotherapy techniques – but it certainly doesn’t feel that coincidental to me. In my opinion (and at the end of the day that is all that anyone can offer, having gone through their own particular set of personal birth experiences) one thing is for sure … the ease or difficulty of the birth process is as much psychological as physical. The positive impact of hypnotherapy generally, and our doula (Zara) in particular, had on our frame of mind led us to a happy conclusion and ultimately an “easy” delivery. I’m sorry if that sounds unduly arrogant or smug, that’s really not my intention but is genuinely the way I feel. The fact that you’re reading this birth story, and have pursued it to its long-winded end (sorry – I never could summarise things very well!) shows that you’re inclined to agree … so I wish you luck with your pregnancy and birth, and I hope you can derive as much benefit from this kind of preparation as we undoubtedly did”
Part of a birth story by Ben, Guildford – September 2013
“After our first meeting with Zara we quickly decided that we wanted her support in deepening our understanding of having a calm pregnancy and birth. Zara supported us in all of our decisions, helping us to feel empowered and confident. This proved particularly important towards the end of the pregnancy when we faced some challenges. Having her there took the pressure off my husband so he was able to concentrate on the practicalities of having and arranging a home birth. Zara is a warm, knowledgeable and calm presence and a valuable birthing partner”.
Felicity and Philip, Godalming – June 2013
“Zara was a breath of fresh air and felt like family from our very first meeting! Her calm manner and wonderful sense of knowing what we needed and when, meant that Paul and I were able to let go completely and just focus on the birth of our daughter. It was quick, it was at home (thank you Zara for providing such useful information that led us to stay at home rather than go to hospital) and was utterly empowering. Paul was supported, so I was able to focus on myself and not worry about him!! I felt in control and completely relaxed all at once! The love and nurturing of a doula with a good dose of Hypnobirthing worked wonders for us. I would not hesitate in recommending Zara for both”.
May and Saul, Guildford – July 2013
“Zara recently supported us during the birth of our first child. For first time parents the birth process can be daunting – in our case pre-labour was longer than expected. Zara was on hand 24/7 during this time both over the phone and in person. She was a great source of knowledge and reassurance, which helped calm our fears and help the process continue smoothly.
Zara was very easy to get along with. She reads people very well meaning that she knew when to step forward and when to step back without us needing to state it. Her prior experience at the hospital (St. Thomas’) also helped immensely as she knew the processes and people and was able set up just as my wife wanted it.
We hadn’t been intending to have post natal support. However, my wife found Zara’s company so easy that she arranged several days with her in the first few weeks. This helped ease my mind when I went back to work as these were days that my wife really looked forward to.
We really enjoyed getting to know Zara. Her ability to read us and the situation ensured that both I and my wife really appreciated her presence and support. Zara provided advice when appropriate, or when requested, whilst never putting pressure on us to follow a particular course. Many of the mid-wives or other professionals we have met have strong opinions on the birth process, which led me to fear that the same might be true of a doula. As it turned out I shouldn’t have worried – Zara is extremely knowledgeable and loves to learn more (even asking one of the St Thomas’ mid-wives about her technique for getting our daughter to latch on immediately after birth) but always followed our preferences – never pressurising us to take a pre-prescribed course. This and her personal warmth made her an exceptional doula for us”.
Roger and Laura, Pimlico – April 2013
“At first my husband and I were considering Hypnobirthing classes to help us with the birth of our second baby. When we met Zara, however, we knew that she would enhance the birth experience too and decided to hire her as our Doula as well. The journey since meeting her earlier this year has been amazing and without her love and support J and I honestly feel that our wish for a homebirth would have been much more difficult to achieve. We are pretty well informed but Zara is more so and we explored many avenues that we did not even know existed before Zara came on the scene! She is warm and funny and an utterly marvellous Doula. Thank you, Z”
Ariel and Laurie, Clapham Common – May 2013
“Zara’s support was invaluable in keeping my spirits up and helping me to manage my long pre labour at home. Neither myself nor my husband had anticipated such an exhausting pre labour but Zara’s presence was hugely reassuring and she usefully suggested and helped me to keep walking to encourage the contractions to increase. During labour in hospital Zara continued to be a reassuring presence and gave me the confidence to have the kind of natural birth I had hoped for. Zara is a wonderfully warm, fun and non judgemental woman who is naturally suited to being a Doula. I would recommend her unreservedly”
“I don’t know what I’d have done without Zara in the weeks after the birth of my little boy. She gave me help with breastfeeding, cooked delicious food, chauffeured me around and was a generally a fantastic source of advice and support. Her personal warmth and humour also made her a lovely person to have around at a time when I felt quite fragile. My only regret is that I didn’t have her as a birth doula as well as a post-natal doula”.
Anna, Herne Hill – December 2012
“We were very happy that Zara agreed to help us with looking after our daughter. I was due to give birth by CS, my husband is disabled and both our extended families live abroad, so we needed someone 100% knowledgeable and trustworthy and we found that person in Zara”
“If I ever felt out of my comfort zone, I naturally looked up to Zara for the immediate help and support. She handled the whole process brilliantly, we met before the birth to go over our expectations and Zara’s recommendations for what we should also take into account. Zara is very positive, energetic, flexible and, above all, a great professional with a fantastic sense of humour! I do not know how I would have survived without Zara’s support and I hope she will still be available when we need her service in the future”
Elena and Henk, Woking – November 2012
“Zara helped us prepare mentally to move on from our last birth experience. She introduced me to the idea of taking control of the birth and gave me lots of information about breastfeeding, which I was keen to learn about and succeed at. After each visit our confidence felt boosted and I had faith that she would help us to achieve our goal of a positive birth experience, which she did! Zara was an invaluable part of our birth experience, she was actively involved and interested from the first time we met her to present. We would definitely ask her to be our doula again if we have another child”.

“Zara was such a reassuring presence throughout labour, not intrusive but able to be there when needed and then being the best coach you could wish for when I really needed to dig deep in the final stages and felt I had nothing left to give. Zara was really supportive to myself and my husband, we both felt well looked after and she took some lovely photographs that we will treasure forever (we would not have remembered to take them!). We so enjoyed recalling the amazing journey we had all been on and felt like we were with a true friend who made the moment that bit more special. Zara really is a very special person who has an amazing intuition to give just the right amount of support at just the right time”

“Zara was perfect for our family. After the birth of our third child she was able very quickly to become best buddies with our older two and so give me the luxury of time with the new baby. At the same time she provided help, support and confidence with the challenge of caring for all three”

“After the birth of my second son, I was looking for someone to help me during the most demanding part of my day, the evening dinner, bath and bedtime routine. I needed support for me and my family in order to ensure minimal disruption to my eldest son at this very critical time in our lives. Zara was exactly the person I needed to help us in the first few weeks after birth. She is extremely caring, warm, kind and thoughtful. She made me and my toddler feel relaxed and at ease and was very attentive and capable with my newborn. Her presence allowed for me to spend some quality time with my toddler whilst knowing my newborn was in very safe hands. She has allowed my family to stay calm and happy during a time of immense change. I have so enjoyed her company and feel she is an excellent doula, possessing all the skills to make mother, baby and family feel well loved and looked after. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

“A priceless rock of strength and understanding that is tirelessly loving and supportive. Her knowledge also saved me from an almost certain episiotomy”

“Her positive attitude and flexibility to our ever changing demands has helped build an air of confidence in the house that we are coping at this challenging time. Zara has been amazing. Her positive, can-do attitude ia a real strength. She has been low maintenance, high return. Exactly what we needed”

“I find Zara very willing and flexible and she’ll do whatever she can most usefully to support a family. I also find Zara extremely well informed. For example I had not considered using a sling carrier until she gave me some information about them and I appreciated her arranging a sling consultation for me at home”
Emma, Twickenham – January 2012
“Zara is not a doula she is an angel. I cannot tell you what a difference having her around during the last few months of pregnancy and by my side during labour made. My Partner and I have found a friend for life”
Suzie and Daniel, Victoria – December 2011
I am 34 weeks pregnant and my husband and I have taken Zara on as a Doula, she will be helping us pre and post-natal with our baby who is due at New Year. I have found Zara to be trustworthy, kind and reliable, she was extremely prompt for our first meeting and it was a real relief to have a conversation with someone who did not judge me on our (very) active lifestyle and slight chaos! Zara listened to all my worries and questions, offering very sound and non-judgmental advice which is a very positive step for me as I have not always felt this way about the midwives I have seen. Zara is practical and yet caring at the same time and I feel that she will be a great asset to anyone that employers her for their pregnancy and birth or just the postnatal side of things. I do not hesitate to recommend her fully.
